HSHS hospitals thank local partners during EMS Week, May 17-23

HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals recognize the tremendous role local EMS partners play in improving the health and well-being of our communities.

“Emergency Medical Services is an essential part of building a resilient health care system that functions efficiently and effectively every day,” said Robin Schultz, Emergency Department director at HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals.

During this EMS week, May 17-23, celebrations may look and feel a bit different because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it does not change how much our hospitals rely on paramedics, first responders, dispatchers, emergency medical technicians, fire and rescue personnel and other crisis response teams.

Schultz says as Level III state-certified trauma centers, HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals work closely with all EMS providers, which is a blessing.  “We are proud to be part of this dedicated team that works tirelessly for our family and yours.”

According to the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), President Gerald Ford authorized the first “National Emergency Medical Services Week” in 1974.

Please join our hospitals in thanking these everyday heroes this week and year-round as we continue through this unprecedented time.
