Prenatal Classes

The following classes are provided free of charge to help you learn all you can before the birth of your baby. To view a calendar of our upcoming Prenatal Classes, click here. To register for these classes and more, please click here. Because class sizes are limited, we recommend you register three to four months before your due date.

Prenatal Series

This four-week series is designed to prepare first-time parents for pregnancy, delivery and post-partum care.

Prenatal Saturday Class

If you prefer, we also offer a one day prenatal class that covers the same important information as our four-week series.

Prenatal Refresher Class

Parents who have had a child in the past five years but feel they need a refresher are invited to join us for either a portion of the Prenatal Series or the Saturday class. Labor and delivery will be reviewed as well as relaxation techniques, cesarean section video and a tour of Women and Infants Center.

Prenatal Sibling Class

This special class is designed to help prepare 3- to 10-year-olds for the changes that may occur in their family. Children are asked to bring a doll or teddy bear and be accompanied by an adult. Children will tour Women and Infant Services; practice diapering, burping and holding a baby using their doll or teddy bear; and view a video presentation to reinforce what they have practiced.

Breastfeeding Class

This class is taught by lactation staff and is designed to give an in-depth look at breastfeeding to those who are planning to breastfeed or those who may still be undecided. You are encouraged to bring the expectant father and/or other support people with you.

Breastfeeding Support Group

A weekly support group for those who wish to learn new ideas, share experiences and gain confidence in breastfeeding, before or after the birth of their baby. Led by a lactation specialist, the support group addresses topics such as infant feeding cues, latching, milk supply, low weight gain, nutrition, pumping, breast milk storage and more. Babies are encouraged to attend and support people are welcome.

Class schedules may be subject to change. For more information, please contact our Women and Infants Center by calling 715-717-4156.
