HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals honor colleagues and physicians at recognition event

On May 2 at HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals’ Colleague Service Awards banquet at the Florian Gardens in Eau Claire, Julie Manas, president and CEO of Sacred Heart Hospital, and Joan Coffman, president and CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital, announced that Donna Stolp, occupational therapist, has been named the 2017 recipient of the Father Klimek Healing Presence Award. Manas and Coffman also announced that Erica Barrette, M.D., has been named Sacred Heart Hospital’s Physician of the Year for 2017, and that Robert Maslonkowski, M.D., a Marshfield Clinic physician, has been named St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Physician of the Year for 2017.

“Donna exemplifies our core values of respect, care, competence and joy each and every day she is here at the hospital,” said Manas. “We are honored to give her this award.”

Stolp has worked in the inpatient rehabilitation department at Sacred Heart Hospital for 32 years and is well admired by her colleagues.

The Father Klimek Healing Presence Award is the highest honor a hospital colleague can receive, and recognizes a long-term colleague who has dedicated his or her life to being a humble servant of the sick. These recipients emulate the spirit of Father Klimek, who served patients and families at Sacred Heart Hospital for 46 years. Father Klimek passed away on August 28, 2013, at the age of 85.

Dr. Erica Barrette joined HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in September 2011, and she will be transitioning to OakLeaf Clinics on June 1, 2017. She will continue to care for patients and deliver babies at Sacred Heart Hospital. Dr. Barrette received her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and completed medical school at University of Wisconsin-School of Medicine and Public Health and an Obstetrics/Gynecology residency at Tri-Health Medical Center in Cincinnati. Dr. Barrette is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She currently serves as a member of the HSHS Western Wisconsin Division ethics committee and the HSHS physician informatics committee and OB multidisciplinary safety committee.

“Dr. Barrette is absolutely passionate about providing the very best care to our patients,” said Manas.

Dr. Robert Maslonkowski joined Marshfield Clinic in Chippewa Falls following completion of training at the University of Minnesota in 1993. Dr. Maslonkowski is board-certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has brought more than 2,500 babies into the world since moving to the community. He served as a member of St. Joseph’s Hospital’s medical executive committee as well as numerous other committee assignments and leadership roles through the years. Dr. Maslonkowski has provided almost 24 years of continuous service to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

“Dr. Maslonkowski is a dedicated, compassionate and respected physician who devotes his life to providing outstanding care and service to our patients and our community,” said Coffman.

Last fall at the St. Joseph’s Hospital board appreciation dinner, Cheryl Halida received the St. Joseph’s Keeper of the Tradition Award, which is the highest honor a St. Joseph’s Hospital colleague can receive. She was recognized at this year’s colleague service awards event, as well.

273 colleagues – with a combined total of 3,850 years of service – were honored at this year’s event.
