HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital announces major renovation to Women and Infants Services center

One of the badger state’s most advanced centers for Women and Infants Services is coming to HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

“We’ve spent thousands of hours planning this new center. Discussions have involved doctors, patients, nurses, architects and construction planners all in an effort to create the most technologically advanced, beautiful space for women and babies,” said HSHS Sacred Heart president and CEO Julie Manas. “We’ve designed it for the needs of today’s new mothers.”

The renovation of the Women and Infants Services center will start in September and is scheduled to be completed in early 2019 at an approximate cost of $8.7 million. The project will involve redesigning the entire third floor of the hospital with labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms and an expanded neonatal intensive care unit. This will continue our focus on patient comfort, safety and relaxation.

Some of the features which will be offered include:

• HSHS Sacred Heart will be the first hospital in the area to incorporate birth sling technology.
• Built-in hydrotherapy tub rooms for pain relief and giving birth
• Private neonatal intensive care rooms with space for a family member to stay with baby
• Additional C-section operating room
• New state-of-the-art security with access codes
• Designated lactation consultation room
• Surround sound speaker system for playing personalized music
• Blanket warmers for mom and baby
• Larger bathrooms, private showers and baby bathing sinks

Capital for the project has been raised in part by HSHS Sacred Heart Foundation with community support.

“The birth experience is one of the most beautiful and memorable events for a family. We are committed to creating this new experience because we believe families are the heart of our mission and we are thankful for the opportunity to be a part of their memories for decades to come. At HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals we are focused on not just being a choice for new moms, but the choice,” Manas added.
