In 1889, the Hospital Sisters came to the Chippewa Valley with a commitment to provide Christ’s healing ministry to all people. We continue that commitment through our Community Benefit services, which include unpaid care to beneficiaries of public programs such as: Medicare and Medicaid; Community Care to those unable to pay; community education and services; and professional education for our clinical staff.
Community Benefits are services provided by the Western Wisconsin Division following our Franciscan mission to serve the sick and the poor and improve the health and wellness of our communities. In an uncertain economy with growing unemployment, Sacred Heart Hospital and our sister hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, are proud that they have been able to significantly increase their total Community Benefit each year. In the most recent fiscal year, the Community Benefit totaled $49.8 million. Regional collaboration allows us to deliver benefits to our communities with greater geographical impact and also to provide quality Charity Care with greater efficiency.
