Our team is here to treat your cancer and to help you and your family through the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of life your cancer affects.

 

Our Counselors

Our counselors are here to help you and your family cope with your diagnosis, treatment and side effects. They can offer supportive counseling, stress management, relaxation/visualization/imagery techniques, spiritual support, biofeedback and education.

 

Our Dietitians

Registered dietitians can provide you with an individualized plan to optimize healthy eating choices and keep you strong, as well as provide a variety of helpful nutritional educational materials and resources.

 

Our Social Workers

You and your family may have financial concerns and insurance issues. Our social workers can provide assistance in dealing with those concerns, as well as Social Security disability, transportation needs, home care referrals, nursing home placement or home equipment needs.

 

Inpatient Nurse

If you require hospitalization, the oncology department at Sacred Heart Hospital provides you with a specially trained nurse to assist you and your family in dealing with your physical needs, as well as the emotional responses to your cancer diagnosis and treatment.

 

Triage Nurse

A nurse is available by phone as a resource to answer any questions you may have about side effects and symptoms related to your treatments. Call 715.717.3956 and ask for the triage nurse.

 

Home Health and Hospice Service

Our partner, St. Joseph’s Hospital offers Home Health and Hospice services to a multi-county area in and around Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire. The team includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapist, speech pathologist, enterostomal therapists, medical social workers and home health aides. They all work closely with your own physician to give you the option of being cared for in the comfort of your own home. Patient Resource Room & Library

An in-depth collection of books, tapes and pamphlets filled with helpful information and resources are available for you and your family. A user-friendly computer is also available for your use. The computer is marked with Web sites for national agencies that provide support services, resources and information on all types of cancers and blood disorders. The library is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm.

 

Touched by Cancer Support Group

This free ongoing support group is for those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. It is open to cancer patients, their families, friends or anyone seeking support. Group members share their experiences, discuss issues of concern and have an opportunity to meet others coping with cancer. The group meets Tuesdays from 3-5 pm in the conference room located in the Center for Cancer Treatment & Prevention. Please call 715.717.1468, if you would like more information.

 

Eau Claire Partner’s Breast Cancer Information and Support Group

This group offers regular, free, open lectures to the public. Programs are designed for women who have had breast cancer, their families and friends, or for anyone with an interest in breast cancer. The group features speakers from a variety of disciplines providing women with support, information and resources. Click here for the 2012 Breast Cancer Support Group Schedule.

 

Look Good … Feel Better

Look Good...Feel Betteris a community-based, free, national service program. Cosmetologists teach women with cancer how to enhance their appearances during cancer treatments by demonstrating practical and hands-on makeup techniques. Each woman learns how to do a makeover using complimentary cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry. Participants also learn about skin care, nail care and ways to deal with hair loss, such as wigs, turbans and scarves. Days of the week and times may vary according to participant’s and cosmetologist’s availability.

 

Renewing Life

This program is offered by The Healing Place at Sacred Heart Hospital. It provides education and support for those needing to reframe the often negative experience of serious illness into personal growth and emotional well-being. Please call 715.717.6028 for a schedule of upcoming sessions.

 

The Healing Place

The primary mission of The Healing Place at Sacred Heart Hospital is to provide support services to individuals, families and communities experiencing grief or loss. The Healing Place offers programs such as:

  • Individual counseling
  • Educational programs related to grief and loss such as grief in the workplace, grief during the holidays and journaling for grief and loss.
  • Comfort Shawl group
  • Community resources, as well as a library
  • Support groups for the loss of a spouse, child or parent, as well as a suicide survivors group and a children’s group

The Center for Healthy Living

Sacred Heart Hospital’s Center for Healthy Living is committed to wellness for body, mind and spirit and provides information and programs including: 

  • Holistic health programs such as Reiki, meditation, guided imagery, gentle exercise class, relaxation and stress management.
  • Nutrition and wellness education programs, as well as health screenings.

The Center for Spiritual Care

The Center for Spiritual Care provides pastoral care to patients, their families, loved ones and caregivers, as well as the community in the form of: 

  • Ethical and spiritual counseling
  • Emotional and spiritual support
  • Daily prayer services in the Father Christopher Chapel, located on the far west end of the first floor. (Service times are posted near the Chapel entrance).
  • A place to pray and meditate in the Chapel. (Open 24 hours a day).
