Ask Dr. Jensen - Vaccinations

Untitled Document

  Q. Why are vaccinations needed?

A. Fully immunizing your child according to the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics can help protect your child from many common infections that can lead to serious and even life-threatening complications.

Q. Are vaccines safe?

A.
Vaccines are generally quite safe. Although vaccines may have mild side effects and more rarely, serious complications, in general, it is safer to immunize your children than allow them to get any of the infections that they prevent.

Q. What are some common side effects of vaccines?

A.
Some vaccines may cause mild temporary side effects such as fever, or soreness or a lump under the skin where the shot was given. Your pediatrician can talk to you about possible side effects with certain vaccines.
