Q. How do I prevent
my family from getting the flu?
A. The first and
most important step you can take to protect your family is to bring everyone in
for their yearly flu vaccination. This year the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention is recommending that everyone six months of age and older get a flu
vaccination.
Q. What can we do on
a daily basis to prevent spreading the flu germ?
A.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you
cough or sneeze and then throw the tissue in the trash right after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water. Or use
an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Germs are spread when we touch our eyes, nose
and mouth, so avoid touching these areas with unclean hands.
- If you or your child are sick stay home for at
least 24 hours after your fever is gone, except to get medical care.
