Q. What is a healthy weight for a child?
A. Your pediatrician can help you determine if your child is at a healthy weight.
Q. How do I approach the subject of weight without making my child feel bad?
A. Don’t put emphasis on weight, instead focus on healthy eating and how good getting moving makes your body feel. Take your child grocery shopping with you and choose healthy foods he or she enjoys. Talk about good nutrition and make plans to fix meals together or pack lunches together. Be a role model and invite your child to go for a walk or a bike ride. Plan family activities that will get everyone moving.
