American Cancer Society ProgramsAmerican Cancer Society Navigator We also offer American Cancer Society Navigators. These valuable people are here to support you through your cancer journey. They can identify local and national resources available to you such as patient and caregiver support networks, medical equipment, transportation (air and ground), lodging, wigs, hair coverings and prostheses. (link to the American Cancer Society) These American Cancer Society online classes are free and a way for anyone newly diagnosed with cancer and their families to get valuable information and answers to some of their questions. The classes are self-paced and include video and audio lessons, interactive quizzes and interesting links to related topics. To take the classes, simply go to cancer.org/onlineclasses and select the class you are interested in taking, and complete the short registration from. If you do not have a computer at home, you may use one in the Community Health Information Room at Sacred Heart, located on the lower level across from the Community Auditorium. This program is intended to provide products to aid individuals coping with the side effects of cancer treatment at home. It provides access to pre-selected, basic, durable medical equipment such at hospital beds, wheelchairs and shower stools. Reach for Recovery Trained breast cancer survivors visit one-on-one with breast cancer patients to share information and provide support during their cancer journey.
