About Us

Our specially trained emergency room nurses are prepared to treat virtually any type of illness or injury. Our staff’s high level of education reflects our desire to bring you the most current treatment modalities and best practices.

Rest assured that you are in the most qualified of hands when you come through our doors.

If you or a loved one suddenly falls ill or is involved in a serious accident, you want a healthcare team known for its skill, rapid response and compassion. You’ll find these qualities within Sacred Heart Hospital’s Emergency Medical & Trauma Center.

Our facility is designated as a Level III trauma center by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. We have 13 emergency room beds, one X-ray room and two minimal care beds and serve approximately 29,000 patients a year. Our team is prepared to handle nearly any medical emergency that presents itself, from minor burns and sprains to life-threatening traumas and neurovascular injuries. We take pride in being equipped to treat people of all ages and stages of life.

All of our doctors are credentialed, board certified emergency room physicians, and each one of our nurses holds advanced cardiac life support training (ACLS), trauma nursing certification (TNCC) and emergency nursing pediatric certification (ENPC). We are the only hospital in western Wisconsin to provide such extensive training for its emergency department staff.

Our staff members’ high level of education reflects our desire to bring you the most current treatment modalities and best practices.

We are the only hospital in the area using the MERCI Retrieval System to remove blood clots in the brain. Additionally, we can perform thrombolytic therapy on stroke patients using the clot-busting medication Tissue Plasminogen Activator, or tPA.

We also treat patients experiencing heart problems or heart attacks. Our hospital has two state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs, a streamlined protocol for access to the catheterization lab from the emergency department and specialty training for nurses in advanced cardiac life support.

In May 2007, we brought on Infinity HealthCare to manage and provide emergency physician coverage at our hospital. Infinity, a corporation established in 1976, is owned and directed by physicians and provides the highest quality emergency services, staffing and management available in Wisconsin. With Infinity on board, we can offer you even greater access to cutting-edge treatments and a larger knowledge base yet. Rest assured that you are in the most qualified of hands when you come through our doors.
