The Brain & Spine Institute is currently one of fewer than 50 luminary BrainLAB® research sites worldwide for our contribution to research and the advancement of neurosurgery with our BrainLAB® neuronavigational system.
We use the state-of-the-art technologies and the most advanced procedures available, including image-guided navigation – similar to a global positioning system – to reach almost any area of the brain through small incisions in the skull. This enables us to address the full spectrum of brain and spine disorders while minimizing the risk of complications. Sacred Heart Hospital is also home to the region’s only Biplane Angiography Suite. This Suite allows our surgeons to perform minimally invasive vascular procedures such as coiling procedures for treatment of aneurysms as well as therapy for stroke.

We are opening a new intra-operative MRI smart operating suite, called the Smart OR™.
This amazing technology enables our award-winning neurosurgeons to take MRI images during a procedure with a moveable MRI from IMRIS, improving our commitment to patient safety. And this life-saving equipment is integrated with our existing BrainLAB® surgical mapping system. The merger of these technologies creates a smart operating suite among the best in the world.
